When it's one of thoe grey days and you can't get outside books are the perfect thing to transport you away. These are 5 of my favourite adventure books, perfect for grey days.
The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien
The Famous 5 - Enid Blyton
I guess I'm cheating a bit because the Famous Five is a entire series of books. As far as I know there is know particular order in which the books go. Join Julian, Dick, Anne, George and their dog Timmy as they go on a number of different adventures, working together to solve mind baffling mysteries. - Adventure - Mystery - Fun - |
Maddigan's Fantasia - Margaret Mahy
Also sold under the title Maddigan's Quest this book has been made into a t.v show as well. I have to be honest and say I read this ages and ages ago and all I can remember about the story line is that is was different, great and has that touch of adventure we're looking for here. - Bravery - Exciting - Adventure - |
Deltora Quest
His Dark Matriels - Philip Pullman
Even though my copy is all in one (not cheating) you can get these stories separately under the following titles: The Northern Lights OR The Golden Compass The Subtle Knife The Amber Spyglass Join the courageous Lyra and her dæmon Pan on their adventures in this trilogy. - Epic - Adventure - Friendship - |
I'd love to know what you though, leave your thoughts on these books in the comments.
