Tiritiri Matangi is an island sanctuary in the Hauraki Gulf. It's a beautiful place and home to many birds. We were so lucky to get the chance to visit this amazing place for the second time.
Three things I learnt there and three things you should probably keep in mind too:
1. Change our behaviour: Stop asking for plastic bags, stop littering and be environmentally friendly
2. Volunteer: Don't expect to get paid to do anything, nothing will happen. Volunteer to do some conservation work, pant some trees, anything! Make a difference
3. Pest Free New Zealand: With the eradication of pests in NZ our native birds can thrive. You might want to seriously think about replacting that cat or dog, however much you love them it might be worth it for the future.
