Welcome to Wishing On Suns first ever DIY!?
Here's the recipe, as promised.
You can't really tell from the photo, but the cupcakes are 3 different colors. When I made them they turned out really well, and surprisingly, there wasn't heaps of mess. They taste great too! the color technique is something I'm sure has been done before. Anyway is was my little experiment and it worked. I'm actually thinking of trying mini chocolate and vanilla ones this weekend, so if I end up actually doing that I'll share that with you.
Enjoy your cupcakes and let me know how it went!
P.S The following recipe is from the Edmund cookbook, it's not my recipe.

How to Make Cupcakes!
Ingredients:
125g Butter (softened)
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1/2 cup caster sugar
2 eggs
1 cup plain flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 cup milk
Method:
Cream butter, vanilla and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour and baking powder together. Fold into creamed mixture. Stir in milk. Place 18 paper cases in cupcake or muffin tins (large/medium).
My Part (the coloring part)
Divide your mixture into 3 and separate it into different bowels. You should now have 3 bowels with 3 parts of mixture. Take the 2 (or 3) colors of food coloring in the colors you want the cupcakes to be. I used orange, pink and plain, so we'll just talk about those and you can substitute it for the colors you are using. Color one lot of mix orange, one pink and leave the other plain. I also used strawberry and orange essences to flavor. Once you are happy with your colors take the orange (base/bottom color) and spoon small spoonfuls into each paper case. Be careful that you don't use to much or there won't be enough to fill all the cases, take note that there does not need to be much as you will be adding more mix soon! Before taking your next color make sure the the orange mix is spread all over the base, I used the spoon to pull it out to the sides a little more. When you've finished that, take the pink (the middle color) and do the same, spooning small spoon fulls on top of the orange mix. Be more careful when doing this as you don't want the colors to mix. Again spreed it out of the case as much as you can. Repeat with the third plain mix (top color). Your cases should only be around 1/2 - 3/4 full. Sprinkle with chocolate chips if desired.
Bake at 190 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes or until cakes spring back when lightly touched.
Enjoy!
