Last weekend my youngest cousin turned 5! I had the pleasure of organizing the birthday party.
Saturday afternoon 8 little girls and their mother and fathers arrived at our house dressed in their best fairy dresses and ready for some fun and magic. Unfortunately the nasty pirates had stolen the fairy treasure! OH NO!
The girls were extremely brave as they went on a quest to find the treasure. They made potions and wands, braved dragons caves, fairy rings and escaped pirates. At the end of a long hike they finally found the treasure! And then a short walk away a fairy feast fit for a queen.

Unfortunately I wasn't very onto it (party stress and all) and forgot to take photo of everything, but included in the treasure was fairy dust in small bottles, a letter from the faeries, a lolly bag, play dough, bubbles and a lollipop.
We also made woodland headbands decorated with bear, bunny, fox or dear ears and flowers. These were so cute I actually took on for myself (one of the girls didn't come). To the birthday girl we gave a crown.
We started the party with face paint (very basic flowers and gold sparkles) and then had the kids each made a wand (using chopsticks, tulle and ribbons). We also let them make magic potions with glitter and colored water, I wanted to add some cotton but didn't get time to add this. We also read out the letter from the faeries asking the girls to help them find the treasure.
We then began the quest. Starting in the dragons cave. I didn't anticipate that some girls might be afraid of dragons, despite our reassurance that the dragons had gone out that day and while some girls were very keen to find the dragon eggs we had a few tears before we could move on to the next part.
After a short walk we had the girls do an egg and spoon race with their eggs and then break them open, the eggs were made of air dry clay with gems stuck to the outside. Inside we wrapped larges marbles in tinfoil so the girls had a present to take home.
Our next game was the fairy circle. For this we made toadstool spots from red and white felt. The game is a little like musical chairs, when the music is playing the girls move around and when it stops everyone has to stand on a free toadstool, only you don't want to be trapped in the fairy ring so whoever is out is safe. The other girls must dance around the last girl with their wands to free her from the fairy ring.
From there the trail of ribbons stopped and the girls had to enter the pirates lair to find the gold coins and the treasure map. This also caused a few tears as one girl was terrified there might still be pirates. However only when we got close to the treasure did the pirates appear (my brothers dressed up). The girls all escaped safely.
We then discovered the treasure which we had hidden in the Forrest near the tend with the food.

By far the best thing had to be the sign my Dad made for the photos (pictured at the top of the post). It was so cute, I defiantly want one for the tree that's going into my bedroom one day.
I would also like to say a quick thank you to everyone who helped. My best friend Nicky who probably did more work than me. My entire family, my Dad for doing the outdoor stuff, my Mum for the mental support and all the little and big things that I couldn't have done without her and my brothers for agreeing to dress up and chase five year olds, also their work on the dragons cave which was really well done, better than I could have hoped.
I really enjoyed the experience and I would defiantly do something like this again one day.
